INTO FASHION: MEET THE DESIGNERS

FAD Projects, INTO Fashion
This month’s Masterclass was a unique opportunity for the INTO Fashion recruits to meet and quiz the designers behind some of the high street’s leading brands.

Two women at very different points in their careers came down to FAD HQ to share their industry insights.

Angela Senior, Product Development & Sales at AKA Klothes

Angela has 30 years of experience within product design, development, and account management for well-known brands such as Bravissimo, Long Tall Sally and Phase Eight.

Aysha Simpson, Freelance Designer at Alison Hayes

Aysha finished her BA at De Montfort University in June 2014. She secured her first job as a Junior Designer for London based supplier Alison Hayes.

Angela and Aysha got things warmed up by sharing their personal stories, career journeys to date, and the day-to-day role of a designer. We then moved on to Q&A session – a chance for the INTO Fashion cohort to really pick the brains of these successful women.

Angela answered questions using her wealth of experience in the industry, providing valuable insight into what managers are looking for in their team members and how to progress. Aysha answered questions with great empathy having been part of the INTOFashion scheme herself, and provided personal advice for keeping focused and securing your first job.

We rounded off the evening with some informal networking – a time to talk to the designers 1-2-1, make some all important connections, catch up with other INTO Fashion recruits and check in with the FAD staff.

A huge thanks to Angela and Aysha for finding time in their busy schedule to speak to our INTO Fashion recruits. If you are a graduate struggling to move forward in your fashion career, are based in London and would like to participate in the INTO Fashion programme read more here.
