After weeks of research, design and pattern cutting prep this week saw the Fashion Futures students start to make their garments a reality, as construction got into full swing.
Using their new found skills and knowledge the young people started on making their finished toiles (a trial garment made using calico and muslin).
As well as being confident creatively, it’s important our budding designers have a good understanding of how to cost a garment – from production to retail. The session closed with a presentation exploring what’s behind the price tag.
As the project prepares to draw to a close later this month check in with the 2016 Fashion Futures cohort on twitter @fadcharity and Instagram @fad_charity.
