Fashion Futures: The Photoshoot

FAD Projects, Fashion Futures

Last week the 2015 Fashion Futures Finalists were given the opportunity to art direct their very own fashion shoot, thanks to FAD supporters Speos Photography School

A shoot takes a lot organization and the young designers stepped up to the mark. They were responsible for finding a model, styling their garment, designing and communicating hair and make up looks, sourcing props, and the mood of the final image. Working closely with the Speos photography students the finalists also contributed their ideas on lighting, poses, and backdrops.

It was a great chance for the finalists to showcase their garments in a creative and individual way, and to create some unique visualisations for their portfolios. FAD finalist Lolita brought along a huge foil backdrop to compliment the futuristic style of her white top and trousers, while David sourced two samurai swords as props to ‘toughen up,’ his tribal jacket.

The finalists gained insight into the complex process of creating the perfect fashion image and acquired a host of new skills – including how to effectively communicate their creative vision to a team of people.

Many thanks to Graham and his students at Speos. Also to Julie Wong for hair and Charlotte Phillips for make up. Keep an eye out for the final photoshoot images – we’ll be posting them in the next couple of weeks!
