FAD + V&A: Shoes, Shoes & More Shoes

FAD Projects

Day four of the FAD + V&A portfolio workshops and cue a visit from past Fashion Futures student and shoe design student Katie Adelaja.

At only 18, Katie has just completed the first year of a Footwear: Product Design and Innovation degree at London College of Fashion. She popped in to give a presentation on her work and offer up advice to anyone considering shoe design as a career.

After a visit to the V&A’s Shoes: Pleasure & Pain exhibition for some inspiration, our eager recruits returned for their first timed challenge of the day – to design and make a prototype shoe.

Working in pairs they got busy crafting card, paper and trimmings into footwear, before presenting their finished prototypes to the group. See some of their fantastic creations below.

Which is your favourite shoe? Tweet us @fadcharity. Thanks to our partners the V&A, to our amazing volunteers and to all the young people who took part in the workshops.
