Black Icons, FAD Projects, Get Involved, Heritage, Leadership Academy
FAD are very excited to announce that the Youth Forums of FAD and the Black Cultural Archives, based in Brixton, are to collaborate on an exciting new heritage project for 16-25 year olds.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Black Icons | The British Jazz Age project will educate young people about influential Black people living in Britain during the early 20th Century.

Combining the knowledge and experience of the FAD and BCA Youth Forums is a very exciting prospect. The BCA will be able to share their specialist knowledge of heritage and using archives, while FAD will use their creative and visual skills to make heritage learning appeal to a wider breadth of young people and the community.

FAD & BCA Youth Forums Project Planning

The aim is for young people to understand the part black people were playing in Britain during the early 20th century, but to also discover historical role models who can inspire them today.

FAD would like to say a massive thank you to The Heritage Lottery Fund, and also to the team at the BCA and the FAD youth forum who have worked so hard putting this initiative together.

Look out for more information about this exciting new collaboration, including volunteer opportunities, coming soon to the FAD blog. In the meantime learn more about the work of the Black Cultural Archives here or on twitter @bcaheritage
