FASHION FUTURES: Hands on half term! Careers in fashion and the art of printing

2014, Careers + Advice, FAD Projects, Fashion Futures

One of the highlights of the Fashion Futures course are the Industry Days and Print workshops during February half term.

3First up, the students arrived at the George office off Carnaby Street eagerly awaiting two exciting presentations from Rebecca Taylor, G21 designer and Louise Ibak, Ladieswear designer.

Both designers discussed their roles at George, including their day-to-day tasks and the ins and outs of the design process in a commercial context.

2After the presentations, the students made their way back to Dragon Hall where they refuelled their energy for an afternoon task in trend reporting.

1Later in the week the students took part in a fun practical session learning a number of printing techniques, including traditional silk screen printing using paper stencils, and heat transfer printing using dye, foil and flock paper.

A huge THANK YOU to the designers from the George Team and the FAD volunteers for volunteering their time at the Industry Day and Print Workshops!

This Fashion Futures programme has been made possible with the support from Youth In Action UK and the George team.
