November has been a very busy month for FAD and the young people that we work with! At the beginning of the month with he launch of our Fashion Journalism Masterclasses.
Combining a passion for writing with an interest in fashion, our masterclasses will help young people develop their writing and visual communication skills and gain a real insight into fashion journalism. Our young people will put their new skills to the test by contributing to the production of the annual FAD Magazine, due for release February 2014.
Our first masterclass took place on the 7th of November with an informative and exciting presentation from Tony Wellington, Creative Director of The Bite Magazine. Tony discussed the importance of understanding your target audience and producing content that engages with the reader … “Attaching to things you like and writing things that other people can understand” (quote by Tony Wellington)
Tony’s presentation gave an introduction into the art of fashion journalism and the different scenarios involved in putting together a magazine.
Our next masterclass will be taking place next week. Special guest at our next masterclass will be Heather Falconer, Editor in Chief of Spindle Magazine.
