One of the highlights of the Fashion Futures project is the half term workshops. As well as a day learning to screen print, our young recruits take a trip to meet the George design team at their offices in Carnaby street for a session on careers and trends research.
This half term we were lucky to have Kausar and Ruth from Womenswear design, and Rosa from the trends team on hand to talk to the Fashion Futures students about their day-to-day experience of working in industry. They brought along a collection of their work – from sample products and spec sheets to trend boards to illustrate how the design teams at George create a range to go in store.
Afterwards the teenagers had a go at making their own trended moodboards, before presenting them to the George team. It was a fantastic day and a real insight into the working world of fashion for our aspiring young creatives.
