FAD Volunteers Meet Mayor of London

Leadership Academy

Last night FAD volunteers and members of the newly appointed Leadership Academy attended an exclusive reception at London City Hall to meet with the Mayor of London himself, Boris Johnson.

They were invited by Team London for an event to recognize the success of Team London’s volunteering initiative, of which FAD’s young cohort have very much played a part.

FAD’s Volunteer Coordinator Varsha took Leadership Academy members and volunteers, Philip Luu, Gemma Halliwell and Angelica Tatham to the event, where they experienced the amazing views of London from the top of City Hall, ate some delicious food and networked with lots of important guests and other volunteers.

Boris Johnson gave his thanks to all of the volunteers attending the event, and a speech laced with his trademark humour, talking especially at length about the success of the Olympic volunteering scheme.

After his speech our cheeky young volunteers managed to get a quick snap with the Mayor, before waving him off with an FAD Magazine firmly in his hand, and apparently offering to create him a bespoke suit.

FAD would like to thank Team London for their continued support, and giving our young volunteers the opportunity to attend this very special event.
