Aged 16-18 years olds and want to experience a realistic insight into the fashion industry? Sign up for FAD’s Fashion Futures 2 course staring in January 2012.

FAD Print Design Competition. Design a print to reflect 10 years of FAD and you could see it featured on a VIP tote bag at London Fashion Week in February.

FAD Festive Fair  Thursday 8th & Friday 9th December at the FAD offices in Old Street. Fill a large carrier bag with bargains for just £7! Shoes, belts, buttons and much more.

 

Introducing More Amazing Competitions

Bilboost Art & Fashion. Design a garment or an accessory inspired by the world of art – from a historic or creative point of view – and you could bag the top prize of 10,000 EUR.

Register before Dec 15th. Deadline for entries 31st Dec. Open to 18 -35 year olds.

C4 The Stake sponsored by Barclays. A unique competition that gives you the chance to decide how £100,000 is spent AND allows you to turn a bright idea in to a reality. What are you waiting for?

Enter on facebook  by either pitching or backing an idea with the chance of making it a reality.  Six winners will be given up to £20,000 each, along with support from Barclays’ mentors.

Open to 16 – 21 years old. Deadline is 23rd December at 11.59pm. 

Tiger Print Christmas Surface Pattern Competition. One for the Holidays! Closing date is Saturday 31st December 2011. Perfect for graduate or undergraduate textile designers.

Submit five pattern swatches for wrapping paper, bags, boxes or cards inspired by the theme of Christmas.

Work Placement Top 5

At number 1….George Student Undergraduate Placements

If your degree course involves a 12-month Industry placement after two years of study, George offer a number of paid student placements each year within Merchandising, Buying, Design, Garment Technology and Marketing. They are jolly nice people too!

2. Sunday Times Style, Fashion Internship

Sunday Times Style are looking for a highly motivated and hard-working fashion intern to complete a 3 month internship starting immediately. The ideal candidate must have experience working at least one national fashion magazine or supplement.

Expenses of £50 per week will be covered.

3. Buying Intern, Austin Reed

This is an unpaid work experience placement, 3 months, during which you will gain experience of key tasks such as sample management, critical path management, fit sessions and comp shops as well as the general admin required for the smooth running of the buying department.

Expenses of £65 per week to cover travel expenses

4. LK Bennett, Design Studio Intern, January 2012

For 2nd year BA Fashion Students or above. You would be involved in the daily running of the design team, from trend research, presentation, boards, general admin work.

 Photoshop and Excel knowledge essential, Illustrator a plus. Fabric and fibres knowledge would be good.
