Emma Clifton, Edinburgh College of Art was a finalist in the 2011 FAD Competition at Vauxhall Fashion Scout in February. She will be showcasing her graduate collection at Graduate Fashion Week in London on Sunday 5th June 2011.
“My Graduate Collection is based on the cyclical nature of fashion and the way that fashion eats into it’s own past and consumes itself. My collection is literally consuming itself. Jackets are pulled into armholes, trousers swallow trousers, dresses are dragged into themselves.
My colour palette revolves around a bold clear blue with accents of other bright colours. This choice was influenced by collaging vintage fashion magazines together with coloured paper in an attempt to further consume, re-use and regurgitate fashion. This is a technique that I have continued to use in my illustration.”
